Cromarty Courthouse Museum offers help to researchers of many specialities
Our extensive archive holds many original documents - the Museum is housed in the old Cromarty-shire adminstrative building and still retains the records of the county. This means we can help researchers of administrative and political history, as well as local historians of Cromarty itself.
We have many original documents donated by people of the town including letters, brochures, postcards. guidebooks, catalogues and other material.
Cromarty was also a town of military and naval importance from well before the start of the C20, and much of our collection reflects that.
The Museum retains facsimiles of documents of importance to the town - deeds, sasines, charters and so on.
Cromarty Courthouse is also a source of information for family historians looking for ancestors in Cromarty and Resolis parishes.
